Il volume rappresenta una lettura originale del complesso periodo di “transizione” della Tunisia tra la rivoluzione del 2011 e le elezioni del 2014. L’autrice Luce Lacquaniti traduce e commenta le scritte e le immagini nelle piazze e nelle strade della città di Tunisi. Un dibattito spontaneo e pubblico si sviluppa sui muri; i contenuti sono gli stessi che vengono discussi nelle case, a scuola, nell’assemblea costituente, sui giornali, nei negozi e nei caffè. Sono queste scritte e immagini a tracciare veri e propri discorsi sulla natura della rivoluzione, sui fatti salienti del periodo, sulle forme della repressione, sul rapporto tra politica e religione, sulla questione femminile, sull’estetica e sui referenti culturali di questi anni.

This book is an original reading of the complex period of 'transition' in Tunisia between the 2011 revolution and the 2014 elections. Author Luce Lacquaniti translates and comments on the writings and images in the squares and streets of the city of Tunis. A spontaneous and public debate develops on the walls; the contents are the same as those discussed in homes, schools, the constituent assembly, newspapers, shops, and cafés. It is these writings and images that draw real discourses on the nature of the revolution, the salient facts of the period, the forms of repression, the relationship between politics and religion, the women's question, aesthetics, and the cultural referents of these years.


The book opens with a reflection by Laura Guazzone - professor of Contemporary History of Arab Countries at Sapienza University of Rome, and an intervention by Michela Becchis, professor and art historian. It includes a postface by Tunisian artist Mohamed-Ali Ltaief, photographs, and textual contributions by Tunisian writers and artists (Ahl Al-Kahf, Molotov, Zwewla, and others).
